In case you missed it...

In case you've had trouble locating it, here's footage of Tommy Thompson's response on allowing private employers to refuse to hire individuals because of their sexual orientation.

(uploaded by The Raw Story)

Generally, I'd be inclined to let private employers use whatever criteria they wish to use in deciding whom to employ, and let the pressure of public opinion fall on those who may make unconventional choices.

From a purely ideological standpoint, the answer might be defensible. From from a political standpoint, it's pretty stupid.

[update: Sorry, legislative staffers. You might not be able to watch the video because it requires Flash, and Marsha Henfer has too many bugs to work out with the new and totally unnecessary version of Folio (and still more useless improvements to Forward!) to support a totally conventional plug-in that costs nothing to install. So instead of watching the video, why don't you figure out how many FTE's are working on Forward and then eliminate that many positions from LTSB? It'd make a nice budget motion.]
