Nice rally.

So AFP holds a rally, and as usual, the "taxpayers" come up woefully short in finding anyone to actually care enough to show up and represent. Yeah, yeah, insert that stale Republican crack about being too busy at work to show up right here.

Fact is, AFP tries to do something, fails miserably, and the story ends up being the size of the counter-rally their little event manages to generate.

This is exactly why Republicans are getting owned by Democrats right now. Face it, conservatives. The Democrats just want it a whole hell of a lot more right now.

RS:

You really aren't getting any of this are you? The Democrats are losing at every turn.

I know you are desperate to see failure in the GOP, but you are deluding yourself if you actually believe your own drivel.

Yeah yeah, blah blah blah. Just like all the Republicans said before the November election that they were only going to lose 1 or 2 Assembly seats tops, that there was no way they could lose the Senate, and Green was going to beat Doyle by 7 (I think that was an Owen Robinson special).

I'm not drinking anyone's Kool-Aid around here. If you think the AssGOP is going to fend off an '08 tide that will start at the top of the ticket and trickle down, I think you're crazy.

If you're not, offer some proof as to why I'm wrong. I'll be glad to post it. Tell me why 2008 will be a Republican year.

You could not tell more of a lie if you tried.

AFP turned out a huge crowd from all over the state.

It wasn't even the largest crowd on that day!

Our budget is better than your budget. Our rally was bigger than your rally. Nah nah nah nah nah.

AFP's crowd was consistently and definitively drowned out at every turn by a huge turnout of union guys and gals....I couldn't even hear the PA over the 'boooooooos' of the crowd.

nice try though.

It must have been a hoot, since the the "crowd" must have been buttressed by diverting senior-citizen buses on the way to casinos. The Cap Times coverage is replete with retirees like this one, who wishes that she didn't keep getting those gummint checks -- but darned if she's gonna send it back to pay for all the services that she gets from state workers:

"Luonne Dumak, 72, said she came to the rally because 'it's about time the people took over our country. The Democrats are a bunch of socialists who want to tax us to death.'

"Dumak, who retired from a job at Johnson Controls, acknowledged that she collects Social Security, 'but I don't like it. It's another government socialist program that goes back to Roosevelt.'"

RS, not only do the Democrats want it a hell of a lot more than Republicans, but they've become far better at "mobilizing the troops." The rally in Madison this week just underscores the fact that conservatives are having a hard time rallying troops to the cause - hence the busing of old folks to the rally - while Democrats had no problem getting a large crowd of really passionate folks to show up and let their voices be heard.

At the rate things are going now, 2008 promises to be a very dark year for Republicans in Wisconsin.
