According to (Rep. Fred) Kessler, the next Assembly leader needs to realize that pushing progressive values and issues will be important, as will understanding the inevitable switch in majority leadership in the next election.
“The other side is going to get control again in the next election,” Kessler said. “It’s a pattern that occurs all the time.”
After watching the complete mess that was the AssDems' organizing caucus, I can see why someone like Fred Kessler might think their stay in the majority will be short-lived. Wisconsinites, in two consecutive cycles, have voted against Republicans (and rightfully so) without ever considering what in the hell they were actually voting for. With the Democrats behind the wheel and the Republicans locked up in the trunk, there's only one party to blame now when the car ends up in the ditch.
Maybe the Democrats could start their majority rule by doing taxpayers a favor and holding off on their myriad of planned office moves for two years. You know, until they can prove it's not a temporary relocation.

I'm guessing this was a Freudian slip. I don't think he would have said that intentionally. Either that or the Herald could have misquoted him, it wouldn't be a first.
The saving grace for the Dems is that they can still play some offense in 2010 to offset the probable loss of seats like the Zigmunt seat and maybe Garthwaite, Hraychuck or Hixson. And in seats that were decided by 12 points or less, what we might term "even remotely competitive," the Dems only had like 5-7 competitive races whereas the GOP has 19 decided within 12 points. Yes, I realize 12 is a high point spread. I used it because that's what the Davis race was decided by.
Kessler may think out too often but it doesn't take a genius to think maybe the caucus has already started to implode.
A backroom deal that leaves the largest concentration of dems in the state out of leadership is not a promising start.
Really?? The Republicans is taking back the Assembly in two years. I don't believe that with as much back stabing and knife throw that is going on to good, long time staffers in their caucus to push them in the street, I won't be so sure.
Alot of people are finding out that Assembly TEAM GOP has been reduced to a bunch of old middle aged white guys that don't want you to walk on their grass in front of their big house. So little GOP frat boy staffers dream a little dream that you will be in the majority because it not as easy as going drunking around the square.
