Anyone seen Scott Walker since the O'Donnell garage debacle? Just wondering. He hasn't updated his Facebook since June 23, hasn't updated Twitter since the morning of the 24th, no press releases or news updates on his website. And this is from a guy whose campaign staff is pretty good about maintaining an online presence.
Is this Scott Walker's idea of crisis management? Hiding under a rock? Are he and his crack staff hoarding canned tuna and bottled water somewhere in an underground bunker and hoping that everyone will forget that a 15-year-old kid was viciously attacked last week by a Milwaukee County parking garage?
Meanwhile, as Walker's cowering in the corner, Tom Barrett is going to meet with President Obama to try and save 1,000 jobs at Bucyrus, which isn't even in the City of Milwaukee but hey, someone's gotta press the issue and Walker's apparently too busy clinging to his blankey and sucking his thumb in the corner.
For all you people who thought Mark Neumann sticking around was such a terrible thing for the GOP, you might end up being thankful that he's still here. And last I checked, Neumann's never had one of his homes fall on a kid. Just saying.

Walker will be criticized no matter what he does.
Which, of course, means doing nothing is the best choice.
There are a lot of things Walker could do that I think would be seen as leading by nearly everyone watching the situation.
- Order a comprehensive and independent inspection of all county facilities in the next 90 days, and then commit to correcting all urgent/semi-urgent problems in the next 180 days.
- Demand that any investigation be handled independently by an entity chosen by a neutral party. Then demand that a preliminary report be made available in 30 days. Let's not kid ourselves. It's a structural failure. It won't take more than a few weeks for engineers to figure out the cause of the problem.
- Own the situation. How hard is it to say "I may not have created all of these problems, but I'm damn sure going to be the guy who gets them fixed."
Walker, however, is terrified of all of that. One and two run the risk that inspectors will blame either deferred maintenance or a complete lack of appropriate inspection and oversight, both of which fall on Walker. And the third option requires Walker to commit funding, which we know he won't do unless public employees take a pay cut to fix the maintenance issues.
At the end of the day, fixing and maintaining things costs money, and Scott Walker hates doing today what can be put off until tomorrow. In his world, he was elected governor 3 1/2 years ago and this parking structure failed on a Democrat's watch. Except Mark Green wrecked his plan.
Regardless, it'll be interesting to see what he elects to do (or not do).
You're right, of course, which speaks to the way Walker has run his campaign thus far. I'm disappointed enough with Neumann and Walker to look for a third party.
I agree with Recess Supervisor. No reason for Walker to run away from the problem. He's got to confront it before any one of his opponents define the issue for him.
He Tweets!

I am glad Walker finally twatted... tweeted... twitted... whatever.
Anyway, I induced it and shall claim victory thusly. Apparently there's cell phone reception in that bunker after all!
The sad part is it took him five days to tweet his sympathy to the families. And still hasn't taken any action for the public safety.
Is the ramp still closed? Maybe Milwaukee County can just start closing all the shit that isn't safe. Let's start with some of those fantastic photos appended to the parks audit that got done last year. Some of that stuff looks like background footage from Dangerous Minds.
JSOnline is now reporting that Walker is having the parapet removed "for safe keeping."
Why isn't an independent agency doing the investigation?
What are you expecting from a guy that couldn't even get the trash picked up in parks on Memorial Day?http://www.todaystmj4.com/news/local/95274509.html?video=pop&t=a&bctid=CLIP_ID_242079
What are you talking about Scott Walker not being active? While, MMAC, Governor Doyle, the Congressional legislative delegation, the two US Senators, state lawmakers, Tom Barrett and other business groups were asking for meetings with high ranking officials, calling the White House, writing letters and working contacts to get the loan approved for Bucyrus. Mr. 250k jobs -Scott Walker placed an ad in the Racine Journal Times taking shots at the Obama administration for the situation. Day later, the loan is approved.
So Walker haters here is the math-Walker buys newspaper ad in Racine paper+ Obama buys newspaper and reads ad, knows that Walker is next Governor = Obama saves jobs because
he know Walker will bring down the heat on him more. So, Obama bends to the Walker Mo.
