49 years ago, a little boy was born in Indonesia, or possibly Kenya. And that little boy had a dream of someday making it to the United States, where he could live something that passably resembled the American dream and lead a nation to a new era of hopey changeyness.
Happy Birthday, Mr. President. I don't agree with you on a lot of things, but that you piss off the wingnuts and the teabaggers brings me unmeasurable joy.

I don't understand. Why are you a Republican? You seem too critical of the GOP to be a Republican.
Can you explain?
I'm not sure that I would consider myself either a Republican or a Democrat right now. There's not much of a permanent home for someone who is socially liberal, believes in fiscal responsibility, is pro-life, and opposes the death penalty.
No wonder you're not sure if you would consider yourself a Rep or Dem now. You're a centrist and the parties only cater to the far left or far right these days. Welcome to my world.
I think I remember you. were you with the College Republicans?
Late 90's?
Yes and yes.
