So Tom Barrett is in, after months of delay. I will reiterate what I said here long ago and elsewhere - absent Ron Kind and Russ Feingold, Tom Barrett is the Democrats' best option. It sets up a buyer's remorse election, where voters are afforded the opportunity to reconsider the choice they made about 18 months ago. Barrett is geographically more appealing and less polarizing than Kathy Falk, who I believe has a strong record as Dane County Executive but unfortunately has decided that being the organ grinder for Mary Bell and Marty Beil is the path to success. It's not.
If this campaign is about how can Wisconsin do better than a guy who
seems to delight in being the most polarizing governor in state history
while accomplishing virtually nothing in the last year, then the
Democrats have a fighting shot.
But if the unions are hell-bent on making this election about them and trying to re-fight last year's battles, Scott Walker will win. The unions need to be pushing from behind, not waving the flags and leading out front.

I like your observation about a "buyer's remorse" do over. In fact, I'd agree with everything you just said.
I just don't see how the unions win by swearing the recall wasn't about them, but then pushing one odd candidate so hard it is only about them.
This liberal totally agrees with your take. This recall is about a lot more than just collective bargaining rights, regardless of what media and the unions want us to believe.
"50th in job growth and 50th in income growth" better be on the lips of a lot of Dems the next 2 months.
@Jake "50th in job growth and 50th in income growth" better be on the lips of a lot of Dems the next 2 months.
This conservative thinks that if they did - and I felt they had any intention of making an honest effort to address that they'd likely earn my vote.
Generally speaking, I like Act 10 - I think the power it gives school boards & administrators can significantly improve the quality of education in the state. I'm not a single issue voter, but for some time now, "It's the economy, stupid" has dwarfed all other issues for me. And Walker & the Republicans have done a horrible job at jobs & the economy.
Walker is a pander bear to the M7 counties, he could careless about the rest of the state and based on his past ability to find the most corrupt/worthless employees -he doesn't. Does anyone with any open mind believe that every, single one of his inner circle was not up to their eye balls in corruption, campaign work and graft -all coordinated and blessed by Walker. If not why has he made no effort whatsoever to distance himself, put them on unpaid leave or fire them -his non action speaks volumns to his true intent and feelings.
One other reason why Barrett would be a better choice, that would matter to partisan Democrats:
A woman from Dane County is already set to be their US Senate candidate. Electing two Dane County women statewide in the same year might be too much to pull off.
The Part of Misogyny prefers an old, white male.
